Lake Central High School

Lake Central's last Regional Golf Championship came in 1998. The 2025 DAC and Sectional Champions fell just short of that feat this year; however, they captured another feat. The Indians are State bound for the first time as a team since the 2003-2004 season. The Indians joined a field of 15 teams and 15 additional individuals yesterday at beautiful Sandy Pines Golf Course. The Indians shot a 314 as a team which was good enough for 3rd place and advancement. LC fell just short of South Bend St. Josephs and Elkhart who both shot a 313 team score. SBSJ won on the 5th score. LC was led by #1 golfer Tyler Morton as he fired a 74 to finish tied for 3rd overall as an individual in the 90 player field. Morton finished his round with back-to-back birdies, allowing Lake Central to edge out the favorites from Trinity @ Greenlawn. Trinity finished with a 315 team score. All 5 Indians' golfers were great on Saturday: Troy Howell and Logan Carroll both fired 79s, and Cooper Kroncke and Matt Tuley shot 82/83 respectively. LC will travel to Prairie View Golf Club on Monday for their state finals practice round. The state finals are consecutive 18 hole rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
