JV/V Tennis @ La Porte 4/29 @LaPorte JV--LC 5 La Porte 0 Lake Central 5 La Porte 0--The Indians' tennis team stayed hot on the long drive to La Porte. The girls swept the host Slicers. Nora Karr at #1 singles, Tatiana Marjanovic at #2 singles, and Sai Chodavarapu at #3 singles all won in straight sets; and the #1 and #2 doubles teams listed below both took 2 out of 3. The ended a 5-match winning streak. They'll look to get back on track tomorrow against Michigan City. Paul Hilvert led the Indians with 10 kills and 2 blocks, Danny Smith had 7 kills and 4 aces , Brady Cook had 15 assists, and Juan Flores had 19 digs. JV (White)/JV (Blue)/V Baseball vs Chesterton JV White--LC 16 Chesterton 5 JV Blue--LC 7 Chesterton 2 Varsity--LC 5 Chesterton 2 Lake Central hosted Chesterton in JV Blue and Varsity baseball last night, and the JV white hit the road to play at Chesterton. It was a program sweep the good guys as all 3 teams rolled, setting up the chance for a sweep of the Trojans tonight. The varsity moved to 12-2 overall and 7-0 in the DAC, as they are tied atop the standing with Crown Point. Josh Flores was electric on the mound in his 5 innings of work. He struck out 10 Trojans and walked just one. Chesterton mustered just 3 hits off Flores. Zach Nicola came on to close it out; he surrendered 2 unearned runs. The Indians bats combined for just 5 hits: Drew Kosteba had 2 hits and drove in 2, and Tyler Colburn added 2 RBIs. The LC offense was aided by their patience at the plate as they earned 10 base on balls. The Lake Central JV Blue Indians defeated the Chesterton Trojans 7-2 on Tuesday evening to move to 6-1 in DAC play. Owen Kopercinski threw 6 strong innings, striking out 7 and scattering 3 hits. Justin Makowski closed out the game by striking out 3 in the 7th. The top of the order led the way for the Indians as Isaac Ochoa, Anthony Sanchez, and Jacob Forystek all had 2 hits apiece. The JV white team had 2 huge innings last night. They scored 6 in the first and 7 in the fifth to mercy rule Chesterton. Adrian Claussen added 4 hits, 2 that went for extra bases, and drove in 2. Malachi Weinum had 3 hits and 4 runs batted in. Mateo Kluga went the distance on the mound striking out 5. JV/V Softball vs La Porte JV--LC 9 La Porte 0 Varsity--LC 9 La Porte 0 The varsity softball team moved to 17-2 and stayed in first place in the DAC (8-0) with a 9-0 victory over La Porte. Jada Lewis pitched 3 scoreless allowing no hits and striking out 5 in the starting role, and Sophia Cembala, the winning pitcher, tossed 4 scoreless in relief. She allowed 2 hits and struck out 6. Kate Renschen paced the offense with 3 hits and 3 runs in the leadoff spot. Jessy Del Toro and Tegan Tripp had multi-hit games, and Izzy Calinski added a bomb. The varsity hits the road and head to Michigan City tonight. The JV softball team is now 10-2 overall and 6-1 in the DAC. They're one game behind Crown Point for the conference lead. Cali Ramirez led the way with 3 hits, 2 of those going for extra bases. Reagan Equihua and Kylie Sobucki both had 2 hits. The JV will host Hanover Central tonight since Michigan City does not have a team. Track & Field triangular vs Valparaiso and Portage Boys' T/F @ Valparaiso--LC 73 Valparaiso 59 LC 73 Portage 59 Girls' T/F @ Portage--LC 58 Valparaiso 74 LC 91 Portage 37 The boys' and girls' track and field teams both hit the road for DAC triangulars last night. The boys swept the host Valparaiso Vikings and the Portage Indians (both scores were 73-59). The girls lost their first DAC meet to Valparaiso and then defeated Portage at Valparaiso.
