Baseball Remains Unbeaten and Softball Wins 2/3 in Classic

V/JV Volleyball (Thursday's late results): V-LC 3 Valparaiso 0 JV-LC 2 Valparaiso 1 The LC volleyball team continued their winning streak in the DAC as they beat Valparaiso to improve to 7-0 in the DAC. The The Indians swept Valparaiso at the varsity level and won 2-1 at the JV level. Set 1: 25-18 Set 2: 25-13 Set 3: 25-14 The Indians were led by Christian Czarnik’s 10 kills, Brady Cook’s 15 assists, Juan Flores’s 9 digs, and Nico Piunti’s 6 aces. The Indians take on Chesterton on the road Monday April 21st to start round 2 of the DAC. V Baseball: LC 10 Columbus North 0 Lake Central is now 8-0 overall after their road trip to Kokomo on Saturday. LC was paired against Columbus North. The Indians were victorious 10-0 in a 6-inning run-rule shortened game. Grant Mercer was the winning pitcher tossing 5 innings and allowing 6 hits. Ethan Chapman worked a scoreless 6th, striking out 2. LC was led offensively by the top of the order: Jake Figg--2 hits, 2 SB, 2 runs Ryder Fernandez--2 hits (2B/3B) Keegan O'Bryan-- 2 runs, 2 SB Parker Robinson--2 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBI The Indians will take on the Michigan City Wolves in DAC play on Tuesday and Wednesday. JV Softball--Game 1: LC 7 Andrean 3 Game 2: LC 7 Andrean 2 In game 1, Ava DeNormandie was the winning pitcher tossing a complete game. Piper Urbanski (3 hits), Aubrey Richardson (2 hits), and Reagan Equihua (2 hits) led the way offensively. In game 2, Sophia Cembala tossed a complete game. The offense was led by Emma Wilkins 4 hits. Richardson added 2 of her own, and Kyrie Pollack had 3 hits. Ava Musch homered for LC. The JV is still unbeaten at 7 wins and no losses. V Softball--Lake Central Classic Game 1: LC 11 Franklin Central 9 Game 2: Lincoln Way Central 1 LC 0 Game 3: LC 10 Edwardsburg 0 On Saturday, LC hosted a softball classic featuring nationally ranked #10 Lincoln Way Central (IL), Edwardsburg (MI), and Franklin Central. The first game against Franklin was a slugfest: LC prevailed 11-9. Maddie Such earned the win in relief of Jada Lewis. The Indians homered 3 times in the first game. Tegan Tripp went big fly for a traditional HR, and Kate Renschen and MaKayla Van Vossen both added inside the park home runs. Moira Falli added 3 hits. Renschen, Jessy Del Toro, and Tripp each had a pair of hits. The second game featured two nationally prominent teams. The Lincoln Way Central (LWC) nights prevailed 1-0. This was a pitching dual from start to finish. Such got the ball for LC and she was dynamite from start to finish. Lincoln Way managed just 3 hits and struck out 10X. The Indians offense was stymied by LWC's ace. Renschen and Falli each managed a single for the only two hits of the game. The offense struck out a season high 10 times. The Indians offense rebounded in game 3 against a solid Edwardsburg squad. They were led by Madi Bickell's 2 home runs and 4 runs batted in. Taylor Schafer added a pair of hits and Del Toro tripled. Jada Lewis earned the complete game (5 inning victory). Lake Central is now 11-1 overall and will host the Crown Point Bulldogs this evening in a battle of DAC unbeatens.
