Baseball and Softball Remain Unbeaten and Add DAC Wins

V Baseball--LC 10 Valparaiso 0 The innings beat state ranked Valparaiso on back-to-back nights to move to 3-0 (2-0 DAC) on the season. LC pounded out 15 hits, striking for 2 runs in the first and 4 in both the 5th and the 6th innings. The scoreless streak against the Indians' arms continued as they tossed their 3rd consecutive shut out. Luke O'Keefe was excellent on the mound throwing 5 2/3 innings of scoreless ball. O'Keefe surrendered just 4 hits while striking out 4. Grant Mercer worked a perfect 1/3 of an inning in relief. Jake Figg set the table at the top of the order contributing 3 hits, scoring 3 runs, and swiping 2 bags. Ryder Fernandez also had 3 hits and scored 3 runs. Drew Kosteba had 3 hits, including 2 triples; he drove in 5 runs and scored a pair. Parker Robinson and Dylan Hein both added 2 hits for LC. The Indians are back in action this weekend at home. They'll face last year's state runner-up Illiana Christian Vikings in game 1 and then the Bishop Noll Warriors in game 2. JV (Blue) Baseball--Valparaiso 8 LC 1 The Lake Central Indians JV Blue fell to the Valparaiso Vikings 8-1 on Wednesday evening. Ryan Mikolanis reached base twice for the Indians and drove in their lone run. Isaac Ochoa provided two hits for the Indians at the top of the order. Owen Kopercinski was the pitcher of record tossing 2 innings and surrendering 4 runs. The Indians look to get back on track against the Hanover Central Wildcats this evening at home. V Softball--Lake Central 11 Michigan City 0 The Indians put up a 9-spot in the first and cruised to victory over DAC foe Michigan City last night. Freshman Jada Lewis earned her first career victory throwing a 5-inning, no-hit shut out. Lewis struck out 13 Wolves in the effort. Kate Renschen added 4 hits for LC, and Alexa Iwema had two hits. Madi Wainright drove in 3 runs. LC will travel to Pendleton Heights to take part in the Horseshoe Classic Saturday. They'll take on state ranked number 1 Center Grove in game 1 and East Central in game 2. LC is now 4-0 (2-0 DAC) on the young season.
