Golf--The boys hosted rival Crown Point in a DAC golf match on Palmira's back 9 last night. The varsity was victorious winning 160-164. Tyler Morton shot par (36) for LC to lead the way. Troy Howell fired a 40. Matthew Tuley-41; Cooper Kroncke-43; Sebastian Darak-44 The junior varsity Indians lost by two strokes to the Bulldogs (175-173). Evan Swinarski fired a low round of 40. Logan Carroll-44; Charlie Mitchell-45; Carter McCall and Austin Julovich--46 Tennis--The girls swung their way to a DAC tennis victory over host Portage. Both the JV and varsity teams were outstanding winning 5-0 and 5-0. The varsity is now 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the DAC. Lake Central will host Chesterton Thursday and LaPorte Friday with hopes of remaining near the top of the DAC. SINGLES--Tatiana Marjanovich 6-0, 6-0; Andie Schultz 6-0, 6-0; Tessa Murzyn 6-4, 6-1 DOUBLES--Charlotte Barnard/Lana Pesoli 6-1, 6-3; Bella Connelly/Jovana Kraguljac 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 JV SINGLES--Mazy Redhead 1-4, 4-3 (7-3), 10-1; Keira Gordon won 4-3 (7-1), 4-1; Adrijana Bastaic won 4-0, 4-1 JV DOUBLES--Zosia Jablonski/Katie Poncin 4-2, 4-3 (10-7); Anika Ayinampudi/Regan Boyle 4-0, 4-1 Volleyball--Lake Central hosted Andrean on senior night. The junior varsity started things off and lost a super-tight match in 3 sets. The varsity offered tons of excitement as it was back and forth with some fantastic rallies. LC prevailed and swept Andrean in straight sets. Andrean 29 16 21 Lake Central 31 25 25 Varsity Softball--Lake Central continued its dominant play and ran it's consecutive shut out streak to 6 games. Two records fell the last two days as Kate Renschen became the career steals leader for LC and Jolie Adams became the career hits leader (see the previous article for details). On Monday, LC shut out the Lowell Red Devils 14-0. Maddie Such tossed the 5-inning complete game. Lexi Iwema hammered two balls over the CF fence and drove in 4 runs. Renschen continued her hot hitting adding 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Taylor Schafer (3 RBIs) and Adams also had multi-hit games. On Tuesday for senior night, Lake Central had 14 hits in 5 innings of at-bats to defeat Chesterton 10-0. Sofia Calderaro threw the 1-hit shutout and fanned 11. Adams led the way offensive, walking it off with her 4th hit of the day (the record breaker) in the bottom of the 5th. Renschen added 3 more hits and Izzy Calinski had 2 hits and a homer. The Indians are now 23-0; they'll travel to Portage today looking to remain unbeaten. JV Softball--LC defeated Lowell (12-3) and Chesterton (5-4) to move to 13-2 on the season. Sophia Cembala earned the win against Lowell and Olivia Hurubean was the winning pitcher against Chesterton. Piper Urbanski, Teagan Tripp (HR), Hurubean, and Addison Doloszyicki had a multiple hit game vs Lowell. LC scored 2 in the bottom of the 7th to defeat Chesterton in walk-off fashion last night. The Indians trailed 4-3 heading to the bottom of the 7th. Hurubean knocked in the game winner for LC. This followed a Riley Cruz double and an Urbanski single to get things going. Abigail Grenchik, Hurubean, and Peyton Martin had multi-hit games. Sofia Beals homered. Jacob White-Hutsler--200M; Roger Ochoa--1600M; Kristofer Garner--3200M; Travis Garcia--110H/300H; Travis Garcia, Tim Daly, Charlie Newton, Josh England--4X400M Varsity Baseball--Trailing 8-4 headed to the 7th LC mounted a comeback that came up just short. LC cut the lead to 8-6 with runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. The Indians fell to host Chesterton 8-7. Griffin Tobias was the pitcher of record. Nick Robinson, Tobias, and Drew Kosteba (3) all had multiple hits. Ryder Fernandez drove in 2 runs. Lake Central gets another shot at the Trojans today at home. JV Blue Baseball--The Indians trailed 3-2 after 3 innings and exploded for 12 runs over the last 3 innings to defeat Chesterton 14-3. They combined for 14 hits; Tyler Thuftedal was the winning pitcher. Dylan Hein (3 hits) crushed two homers and drove in 4 to lead the offense. Griffin Caposey also had 3 hits and scored 2 runs. JV White Baseball--Lake Central needed two in the bottom of the 7th to tie but managed just one and lost to Chesterton 7-6. Malachi Weinum threw 4 strong innings to start, striking out 8. Lukas Hays was the pitcher of record in relief. Frank Verta had 2 of LC's 8 hits. They'll get a rematch today.
