LC Girls' Basketball Plays Well to Kick-Off the Season

Lake Central Opens Season Hosting Girls’ Basketball Classic The high school basketball season tipped off in exciting fashion as Lake Central hosted its annual Girls' Basketball Classic, welcoming Hammond Central, Fort Wayne Snider, and McCutcheon for a full day of competitive action. The Indians finished the event with a 1–1 record, showcasing balanced scoring, impressive perimeter shooting, and early-season promise. Game 1: McCutcheon 66, Lake Central 58 Lake Central opened the Classic with a hard-fought matchup against McCutcheon, ultimately falling 66–58 despite a strong offensive showing. LC was tied at half with the highly ranked Mavericks. The Indians featured four players in double figures: Neila Ogden – 14 points (4-for-6 from three) Jill Beaderstadt – 13 points Emma Myszak – 12 points Alex Myszak – 11 points Lake Central’s perimeter shooting kept them in the contest throughout, knocking down 14-of-29 attempts from behind the arc. Ogden’s early-season rhythm from deep provided a spark, while the balanced scoring attack demonstrated the team’s depth. Game 2: Lake Central 47, Hammond Central 40 The Indians bounced back in their second game of the day, securing a 47–40 win over Hammond Central behind timely shooting and strong playmaking and avenging last season's playoff loss. Neila Ogden once again led the way with 15 points, delivering a perfect 5-for-5 performance from three-point range. A. Myszak added 12 points, giving LC another reliable scoring option. On the glass, Beaderstadt dominated with 12 rebounds. Huppenthal directed the offense efficiently, finishing with 6 assists. Lake Central leaves the Classic with momentum and a clear sense of its strengths: sharpshooting, balance, and a depth.
